Day 2

Today was a long, irritating day.  One of those days you just want over ... even when it started out pretty good.  I woke up in a good mood.  The Raptor was playing peacefully in her crib and the Destroyer was still fast asleep.  I enjoyed a peaceful shower and then it was if time just starting moving in fast-forward.  Tried one outfit that I wasn't quite adventurous enough for and resorted to something that would work with my trusty black boots again (I'll figure out how to use those lace ups at some point ... sigh).  Feed the kids, get to Nursery school, drop car off at mechanics, get to work ... work work work ... leave and do part-time work work work ... get home, play with kiddies (half-undressed since the Destroyer demanded "coat" off, necklace off, shoes off) ... and then finally bedtime and I re-assemble my "Day 2" and take the pics.  Good times :)

Boots - Skechers, Slacks - NY & Co, Sweater - Principles, Red cami/bra top - NY & Co,  Black & Grey necklace - gift, Crystal necklace - gift from friend in College (20 *gasp* years ago), scarf - handmade by me

So, I had said the slacks needed hemming.  Not so much.  Since my thighs have spread since their original purchase, they are a bit shorter ... so out came the seam ripper to let out the hem that hadn't already given way.

As far as accessories go ... upon the arrival of small, inquisitive children; I hid most of my jewelry.  Since I'm crazy disorganized, I now can't find most of it.  I hid it so well, I can't find it.  But I'm finding jewelry boxes here and there, so this re-visitation is going to be fun.

And, I completely forgot that I knit.  And that I have already knitted a good number of scarves (that my mother keeps taking.  Seriously, I show her a new one and she says - oh I need that).  So, I went shopping in her closet and got some of my scarves back.  Woo hoo :)

  1. I WISH I knew how to knit. I had tons of knitting programs at the library, but I never learned myself. You should knit a hat for yourself and remix that!

  2. I've made a hat before (cheated with one of those tools you get at the craft shops) but a friend swiped it ...

The second one ended up too small (and I thought I did it exactly the same) so it went to another friend's daughter.

But, I think I will try again. It's not as if I have 3 boxes of yarn in my basement or anything ....

  3. Going through a whole day and then reassembling your outfit? That is dedication! I, too, wish I knew how to knit. Do you have any tips for beginners?

Your outfit is great, that scarf is beautiful, and (on a completely different note) I totally love your hair.

  4. Pretty jealous of your scarf skills here! Also, those black pants look great.

  5. Hope tomorrow pans out a little better :) Isn't it fun to add scarves as an accessory? Last year Academichic hosted a scarf month, where you had to wear all of them in the span of one month! I wish I could knit my own, although that would just fuel the addiction!

  6. Lauren B - books, videos, etc don't work for me. I have to be face-to-face shown and then work something through for a while with feedback. I've tried to books to expand my knitting capabilities (sweaters, etc) and I just get stumped (or impatient ... who knows!)

Lauren - I don't really have any tips. I consider myself a beginner. I guess, for me, the best tip is to not be too much of a perfectionist. Bulky, interesting yarns can cover mistakes (extra loops, etc). But, I would definitely suggest finding someone to show you - in person - how to get started. Once you get going with the basics you'll realize the biggest problem is stopping ;)

    Austin - thank you!

Liz - thanks. It was better, just still hectic. And, yes, I forgot how much I loved scarves. That's why I started knitting them - it's just been a while.
